And how well are your pcs now working?

  Seth Haniel 12:36 18 Dec 2007

no problem so far.. but still early days

everything worked afterwards.
More thorough testing tonight.
Any problems will be reported here ;)

PC was Windows XP Home SP2
Laptop Windows Professional SP2

both took the upgrade but noticed different items being installed on laptop that were not installed on PC ( and probably vce-versa)

cheers for the link - good site major geeks - thought there was not going to be an xp sp3?

I made a slipsstreamed install cd with updates to Nov 2006, gets a bit tedious having to add all the new updates so this will be a great help

have just reformatted my niece's laptop and updated using windows update, takes some time! She has come home from uni with it, keyboard/touchpad not working, and a hige 108 mbps pcmia adapter sticking out the side of the wifi laptop - sold and installed by a PC repair shop who did not even disable the wifi adapter, I think this has been the cause of her woes

it appears to be working fine now

Re updates. Although AutoPatcher received a demand from Microsoft to cease issuing its monthly updates package, you may still be able to download the final (August 2007) pack from:

or similar.

Saves a lot of time.

still downloading the 336 mbyte file - very slow

I download to desktop and installed from there. With broadband and DAP software took just under 6 mins to download.

thanks for the link.

you get a fairly good download speed from the austrailian link.

  Devil Fish 17:17 18 Dec 2007

yep use the Australian link they are all asleep at the moment so you should get better speeds downloaded from that mirror in 36 minutes

cheers for the link Seth Haniel

Excuse my ignorance on this matter but why is this XP SP not available from MS.
The MS update site seems to promote SP2 but I can`t find anything about SP3
