Now that MS has stopped support for XP, do you still need to activate for it to carry on working?
Thanks. Thinking of building new comp for my son at Uni.

MS may not be supporting it but provided you have a legit copy,no problems. No need to contact MS just install and activate and of course update.

yes, you still need to activate after an install, either automatic or if that fails then telephone activation.

XP SP3 gets extended support until 2014 so MS has not stopped support. If you require updates to SP3 then activate and register.
