The worlds first website and worlds smallest stop motion film.

The first webpage, which went live on 30 April 1993, has been recreated by researchers at CERN.

Website. Not an ad in site.

The world's smallest movie, which is quite simply amazing.

The days before "Flash" then :0)

Site = sight, but site also works.

...I notice the lack of adverts on the first world wide website ... if only we could return to those halcyon days...

I think the web would have drifted into obscurity and become obsolete within 5 years if the web had remained as visually bland as that page!

Never again will I complain about the PCA adverts...

I was part of what must have been one of the world's first forums, way back in 1996. Some strange discussions used to take place, usually late at night UK time, with all kinds of people, some of whom who were manning a US military surveillance base, somewhere in the wilds of America. I had better not mention where, because I don't think their participation was strictly in the rules.

They were bored, and had access to the internet. I was just beginning my love affair with it, and we were all excited about our dial-up connections. I was invited to moderate the discussions, and here I am, still at it. My wife is convinced that I'm mad, and perhaps she's right.

Happy days.

" excited about our dial-up connections" and so was I when I first went on line. It hasn't taken long for the technology to progress by leaps and bounds. Can you imagine going back to dial-up?

Brings back memories of Netscape.

My [trusty] dial-up connection will cease [regretably] on tuesday ... to make room for a shiny new broadband service ... it's like losin' an old friend tho', ... 'faithful to the end' :o[

" flowers please." for the loss of dial-up?

I'm missing something here.
