I don't know much about all this stuff, but my rather uneducated worry about having the Euro (And possibly many other peoples) is seeing every single nation that has it, having prices go through the roof the instant it's in place. Like many people I holiday in Europe and I have family in Ireland, so have plenty of 1st hand experience of seeing the sudden lift in prices etc, when the change took place. We would always socialise in pubs/restaurants in Ireland with family/friends, but that is now a very rare option as it's extortionately expensive now, and the local trade is diminishing significantly. Do wages go up pro-rata to deal with this, I don't know but I doubt it. The UK, like everywhere else, is having a tough time just now, I think having the Euro here would compound issues even more. As I say, I know far too little about the workings of this, but as a common pleb, those are my worries.
