Stephen Fry - The book of General Ignorance.

I'd like to say thanks, I just bought it today (Easons £8.99) and have been reading lots of things out of it at random!

A great book.

Chicken Tikka Massala is actually a Glasgow dish! There's no set recipe and out of 48 dishes tested the only common thing was the chicken! (Makes you wonder)

A headless chicken lived for 2 years.

The biggest thing a Blue Whale can swallow is a grapefruit.

....he must have spent a while compiling and researching this lot.

Actually he only lived 18 months:

"he must have spent a while compiling and researching this lot"

He (Stephen Fry) didn't: it was compiled from the show QI and that is researched by a team of people based here in Oxford.

Oh ok, well I like what I'm reading anyway.

Do chickens not feel pain then?

'Do chickens not feel pain then?'

Not once they are in the massala sauce.

£8.99, I think that I will wait till the local discount bookstore (The Works) as it in, perhaps the price will be reduced to £1.50/£2.00.

Errr...isn't that akin to taking credit for someone elses work?

I don't know that Stephen Fry has ever claimed to have written it. He wrote the forward I think.

That was my ignorant assumption. Indeed he just wrote the foreword and Alan Davies wrote four words. click here
