What's your technology of the year and why?

I'm not talking gadgets here but looking at the wider spectrum, recently, in a pcadvisor mag, Guy Dixon suggests 2002 was the year of broadband, 2003 the year of wi-fi and for 2004 he suggests skype (voip) as a strong contender. Whilst i don't disagree at all, I'd be interested to hear if there's a certain technology you'd like to see up there amongst the best of them and why you'd like to see it there?

Without a doubt TFT screens especially now that you can play games on them.
They draw less power than a crt they use less space.

3.5GB backed up to dvd+rw in less than 15 minutes. Beats using 5 cd-rws.
