What Time is it in the North Pole...?

  Z1100 18:34 06 Nov 2006

France is 1hr ahead, New York 5hrs behind but all those little lines that run up and down the planet (I wonder if you can see them from space...) meet at the north pole...

So, how do I set my watch when I get there...?

I should think they use Zulu time or GMT.

Both the North and South poles use Coordinated Universal Time, which is more familiar to us as Greenwich Mean Time. This time zone is based on extremely accurate atomic clocks kept at various laboratories around the world.

Scientific research staff based on the Arctic and Antarctic polar ice often use different time references because it's easier for them when contacting their home countries - they'll simply use two reference clocks, one set to Universal time and one set to their home base time.

Reminds me of the old schoolboy' question" If you are standing at the North Pole and walk a mile east, then a mile south and then a mile north where would you be? ..Bingalau..
