What ever happened to the floating Banner?

  sydsnott 15:18 09 Jan 2014

I must say I found it an irritation on my old 17" 4:3 screen, but now I have 27 inches of 16:9 real estate, it seems to have been done away with!

Has it indeed been banished, or does it just show on smaller screens?

It wasn't really the most popular site feature, was it?

It was given concrete shoes.

I have to agree, with so small a screen, it took up too much room,...wouldn't mind it now though!:)

sydsnott - Please no - it was terrible.

The banner is away ... but has anyone experienced or noticed the momentary will-o-the-wisp appearance of a different font style during refreshes? For any font enthusiasts out there, it reminded me of a sapphire or topaz font, size 6, 7 or 8.

There are ways, but using those same ways with my banking arrangements just brings havoc to the banks cookies. So what works on this and many other websites, doesn't work on all?.

I used to find the banner mildly irritating but, to be honest, I hadn't noticed it was gone until I read this thread.

The cookie warning will pop up each time you clear your cookie cache. The site detects no cookie when you arrive, so up pops the statutory warning.

I frequently get a pop-up ad for a printer when I first enter the site. I am not clearing my cookie cache.
