Hi all i had a video stolen off me about 9 years ago & just had it returned (its a long story) its of myself & my daughter when she was 8 months old & an old friend who's now passed away, I am sure you can imagine its very treasured & the video only last's 15 to max 20 mins however the person who stole it of me has recorded MTV over most of it meaning i got just 4 mins remaining.GRRRR does anyone know if i can get the rest that was recorded over retrived...? or is there any means of getting it all back...?

Once it's gone it's gone. Video tape goes through the erase head which wipes it, then round the picture and audio heads which record the new information over the space that was there. This means that whatever was on the tape before is completely lost.
