For the first time it its 20-year history, a Simpsons episode is being shown in the UK before America.

The St Patrick's Day show, called In The Name Of The Grandfather, will be premiered on Tuesday.

In the episode, the cartoon family travel to Ireland and visit famous landmarks, such as the Giant's Causeway and the Blarney Castle.

But things never go smoothly for the family and trouble follows once Homer and his father buy a pub.

Not at all.
If your a fan of the Simpsons they normally only do first runs on a Sunday at 7pm.

So you would never post on a TV program or event that you were keen on then?

cannot understand why sky one shows so much of it rather than the cartoon network or one of the other sky 600 series channels.

  babybell 13:35 17 Mar 2009

Because Sky are the only ones that can afford to pay for it! The Cartoon Network wouldnt be able to pay for the rights due to the sheer popularity of the show.

The Cartoon Network is primarily a childrens channel, whereas The Simpsons is more satirical parody and not specifically aimed at kids.

I think Channel 4 paid £1'000'000 an episode to steal the show from the BBC and there are 22 episodes in a series. Even then, Sky One still get to air the episodes before Channel 4 can.
