Hauled to court, forced to pay £1,500 and branded a criminal...for drowning a grey squirrel

one up for the greys ;)

  Cymro. 13:08 20 Jul 2010

I thought that gray squirrels were considered vermin anyway. As for being cruel to it, well three minutes to die is not so bad.

Common sense is out of the window again.
Err, think I'll get rid of my mouse traps, just in case.

  johndrew 14:13 20 Jul 2010

I think that simply killing the animal was not a problem. But drowning it was considered to have caused unnecessary suffering.

Three minutes can be a very long time.

I don't think you should be too surprised that if you put food out for wild life (birds), you will attract other wildlife as well.

If you don't want the squirrels, don't put anything out, birds have been around longer than us.

It's okay to shoot them, but strangling, drowning, smothering, hitting them with wet kippers is illegal.

  ronalddonald 15:11 20 Jul 2010

what would be the charge if you accidentally run over a squirrel, he could of released in a forest about 10 miles away.

  johndrew 15:48 20 Jul 2010

Wet kippers!!! That really is bad ;-)

I really must remember that!

How long does it take for a human to drown?

I say dunk that evil git for a minute short of it so he knows what it feels like.

  rdave13 17:23 20 Jul 2010

Wonder how they work out that a lethal injection is humane? How do they know the animal doesn't feel pain?
