Sweet Memories

Sad times when it seems to be 'the end' for Highland Toffee and Pan Drops! All Grannies and Grandads used to have pan drops in handbag or pocket, and a 'cake of toffee' especially the chocolate covered,-often cracked into pieces with the end of the poker, unwrapped and the treat shared. No E numbers either I'm sure. Are they doomed to disappear?

The time when Grans and grandads could give sweets to the children are also gone. Their parents have nightmares about the dentures that a previous generation thought were a godsend. Personally I miss spanish wood and real sherbert lemons that have to be prised out of the jar with a knife. There are old fashioned sweet shops springing up all over the place now especially in Scotland. Remember when your aunties would send sweet coupons pinned to the family letter? Come to that, do you remember when aunties wrote letters?

One thing i miss is Top deck,

Anyone remember that?
It was a fizzy drink in a silver can,
Green writing was beer and yellow was lager i think.

It was a shandy BTW not alcoholic.

Also miss chocolate cigarettes, i collected the cards in them,

I suppose having sweets shaped like cigarettes isnt PC now.

I also remember my mum's coop divi number.

It's around fifty year ago since I used it, but it was instilled into me before I ran errands.

I can't remember the pin for my bankcard however.
