I meant to post this the other week but more important things were happening in my life. I noted a small article in one of the national papers that the government were doing a rethink and that rather than Manchester lose having a super casino they are looking at letting Blackpool have one also. Sounds a sensible solution to me but I do wonder if London will now complain about that move!
That run down area you refer to has changed dramatically since the building of the Stadium. Long gone are the back to back terraced houses of yore. The re-development of East Manchester is an ongoing project that was started with the building of the stadium, siting of the super casino there is just another phase of the project.
Then please don't judge what you haven't seen or experienced. Contrary to popular belief, it is not a rundown area full of slum housing anymore. Even more modern houseing from the 80's are being demolished to upgrade the area, more and more businesses are moving ito the area. Already hundreds, yea thousands, of people attend a multitude of daytime and evening sporting events at SportCity plus the many Concerts held in the main football stadium including the big name stars of music.
