The Spending Review...

click here I presume no-one's mentioned it yet because it's not exactly clear just how we're going to be affected, it looks far from easily understood to me beyond the key bullet points. Even the media seem to be taking a while to digest it and present it in a format that I can fully understand.

It's not just me wots thick then...

"We're all in it together"

Except for foreigners.

Overseas aid increased by 40%

I can understand ring fencing, but an actual increase in these straitened times?

Where did that old adage say that charity begins?

There must be a good reason to give aid overseas.

Exports? We export to most of the places we give aid to don't we?

The hundred million plus in interest payments we pay may also be going overseas!

I am fairly sure that I heard someone say on the radio yesterday that the increase in foreign aid was for trouble spots eg Afghanistan and would assist the defence budget. I have my doubts.

There is also the increased contribution to the EU click here

By saying that, in spite of the hard times, we will seek to honour our commitment to the rest of the world, the UK is demonstrating what it means to be a world leader.

In what ? by doing trade with a country that has warrants issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague over atrocities committed !great example of our principles and our standing in the worlds community .

Maybe the cut in the social housing budget can be used to build workhouses .

The cut in prison places what message is that sending out maybe they are working on the principle that less police on the streets mean less criminals will be caught so less need for prison placements

Overseas Aid!

Apparently we are to stop giving aid to China and Russia!!!

Why aid to China - With their current economic powerhouse they should be giving us aid!

Actually they are on the verge of big trouble. They are having trouble keeping the currency artificially low and their interest rates are on the rise.

  Grey Goo 13:07 21 Oct 2010

Still look on the bright side.If it goes belly up the Socialists can slap each other on the back and crow "We told you so"
If it works they will immediately claim the credit saying it was all their ideas pinched by the Alliance.

I meant to say over £100,000,000 PER DAY
