I'm afraid it completely escapes me. As far as I can see it's just a couple of sad people sniggering at someone else being made a fool of for doing his job.

Always assuming it was genuine, of course.

but people who work for telemarketing companies are doing just that - they're working, and earning their living.

Some of them may not be entirely happy with the way that their employers conduct their marketing, but jobs don't grow on trees. How anyone can think it's a laugh to humiliate someone who is simply doing what they're paid to do is a mystery to me.

I get many of these annoying calls, but I found this totally without merit.

It's the modern method of getting our entertainment by publicly humiliating someone.

Just tell the guy you're not interested - he's just trying to earn a crust.
