Pictures to Exe is my preference, available from Wnsoft, http://www.wnsoft.com/

It's a one off payment, all updates are free for life. Create your masterpiece with numerous available effects and background music and save to a .exe file which can be viewed on any computer without the need for supporting software. Or, convert to DVD to watch on TV, both formats being available to create.

For some example of Pictures to Exe slideshows, take your pick from either Barry Beckham's website at: http://www.beckhamdigital.co.uk/freestuffdigslidesw.htm or, Beechbrook Cottage http://www.beechbrook.com/ All free to download.

I would not be without it.

If I may but in. I think some of those slide shows are the best I have seen, but a bit pricey.

I much prefer ProShow Gold. At the moment I'm playing around with ProShow producer. Can be a little difficult to get to grips with though. I'm in the process of creating a show of birds and their call signs.

Here's the link to my unfinished show (I'm still searching for a couple of bird calls)

When considering a program and what effects can be achieved. Go the French Pictures To Exe enthusiasts forum and download Jan-Cyprien's 'Un Apprenti Sorcier .exe'. This sequence takes slideshows to a very high level far beyond the basic holiday photos slideshow, but if you are wondering about effects, this is the one to prove it when considering Pictures to Exe.

Website is at: http://diapositif.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=33290 click on 'Telecharger' at the end of Jan - Cyprien's forum posting. This is the download link for the show.

When downloaded, double click on the file, Un Apprenti Sorcier will begin.

Yet another to try is 'DVDPixplay' a reasonable package to enable musinc, seldf record of narrative, titles and so forth. Not so complex as 'some of the others Free to try for a month with limited access- about 320 or less for full version- with regular updates.
