Maybe Samsung are fed up of paying Google for the use of Android, they tried their own OS (Bada) and it didn't catch on, so now they're buying a ready built, and very good OS (it's based on Palm's OS).

I've only had one Palm device and it was absolutely dreadful.

There is no way I would go down that route again.
