Has anybody tried this way of selling their car webuyanycar.com .

I have got a valuation for my two year old Honda Civic which works out about £500 more than a dealer has offered me in exchange for a new VW Golf but is there a catch?

I don't know anything about that site, but generally you will get more for your car selling privately than to a dealer

Sorry should have looked at site first to see it's a company, but heres some comments from the moneysaving expert forumclick here

Thanks for that link.

Maybe not such a good company to deal with?

A couple of poster seem to think they were ok, minority though, but if there office is close by and it is less hassle for you, then maybe you could take your car down to them at least you know they may try and cut the price down and you can always walk away, sounds like you need to be strong though

Yes, it might be worth a look it's about 20 miles away.

I'll leave this open for another day or so to see if anyone else has any views.

IMO no dealers, no companies specialising in 2nd hand cars, sell privately.
My father in law just renewed his car, the dealer wouldn't move on the part-ex price, so I offered him inbetween what he wanted and what the dealer had offered, and got the car, and for the sake of a few hundred pounds he still purchased a newer model from the dealer, with all the bells and whistles he wanted, but with no part-ex.

Sell privately.

Honest John in the Saturday Telegraph has given advice on a practical way to sell second hand cars. I'll try to find a link.

This was one of those he recommended -click here - no experience of it myself, but looks promising perhaps.
