Regardless of the military reasons and all the other justifications the rest of the world will see this as the Brits leaving the Yanks to do the work they can't manage.

Coming on top of Cameron's gaffe about pulling out al Quaeda will see it as a major victory, and a great morale booster.

The job, no matter who is left to do it, has just become a lot more difficult.

The Americans certainly have the material, and seemingly are able to absorb fatalities more than us
Their 1000 + against our 300 or so.
