There is a nasty e-mail going around preying on people's sympathies and asking them to send a Christmas card to QEHB. See Hoax e-mail. Please alert people to this.

"Gifts to unnamed soldiers are clogging up BFPO"

There used to be a BFPO sorting office a mile or so from where I live, and I can remember seeing huge stacks of parcels going into a temporary marquee at Christmas time.

BFPO handles around 4000 tonnes of mail a year, which is quite a task I imagine, given the worldwide delivery locations.

The company I work for holds the logistics contract for the US Marine Corps.

We have a warehouses in Kansas and Germany, both covering dozens of acres, they hold nothing but undeliverable mail and parcels for US Marines.

I'm fairly sure that the managers of these warehouses would be unlikely to welcome any more unaddressed Christmas cards...
