Another Health and Safety issue.

I would bet that the riders are not to keen to give up.

I think the police have more to worry about, on how many four or more wheeled police vehicles are involved in road traffic incidents, and its on the increase.

Motorcycles have their specialist usage, especially on escort duty, or in confined spaces and areas. The more expensive helicopter service, have taken over some of these duties, but that also as limitations.

Talking about concerns of 'wet road' incidents, this is nothing new, either to the police or public in general. Even 'dry roads' can have their equal amount of problems. Most police motorcyclists are also regular users of their own high powered motorcycles, in an hobby capacity.

I wonder if this will effect the bobby on the push-bike or the bobby on roller skates!!.

Those Police officers that ride Motorcycles, in the course of their work/duties are Volunteers, then I can see no problem.

Like all specialist roles within most occupations, especially the emergency services, people 'volunteer' their services. With things like the emergency services, volunteering comes first, selection comes second, acceptance could possibly be third ;o)
