Online Postage with Royal Mail

I print most of my postage stamps online using the Royal Mail system.

Normally it works pretty good.

Today I needed to post a letter to Post Office Savings at a P.O. Box.

Can't do it. Rang the helpdesk. "you can't print online postage to a PO Box."

Also, you can't print postage to BFPO addresses nor can you print postage to Europe as Airmail Printed Matter.

I send a magazine to a friend who lives in France.

Although Royal Mail lists the price as £3.26 for Airmail and Printed Matter it is not available.

If I don't mention "printed matter", it is £3.61 and I can print the postage and send it.

What is the problem here? after all it is only a stamp.

If I go to a Post Office (which we don't have round here anymore, someone decided to close them all) the nearest is now about 6 miles away and buy the stamps I can send letters/packets anywhere I like.

Have you thought about using PayPal postage system?.

I haven't used it, but I seem to have a increase of items being delivered via the PayPal on-line postage paid and printed label scheme.
