Noted sci-fi writer dies at ninety.

Sir Arthur C Clarke has died in Sri Lanka at the age of 90. A visionary writer of our time..."he was the author of more than 100 fiction and non-fiction books, and his writings are credited by many observers with giving science fiction a human and practical face..." words from his friend Sir Patrick Moore. I have to agree with him. TC. click here

A great writer. Love his books.

Although Brian Aldiss comes a close second..

I've read quite a lot of his books and his passing is sad news indeed. He was able to tell great stories with a sound scientific basis which made them believable and more interesting than a lot of sci-fi. He'll be missed.

I thought he'd go on forever. Read quite a few of his novels, short stories, and some of his non-fiction when I was in my twenties. Mostly good stuff. The last of The Big Three is gone............

Comes to everyone in the end. But still.

I read all the space odyssey books again last year.

Second that WTM. Bugger. He was seemingly going to go on forever. A great mind and (mostly) a great writer. There were occasional aberrations, such as Cradle -- co-authored with gentry Lee -- but 2001 and the Rama series were outstanding. He won't get to see Rendezvous With Rama on the big screen (due next year, apparently).
