This is a M&S P45........with new reduced terms for those made redundant.

Retail is certainly having a hard time and finding alternative employment in the sector won't be easy for the unfortunate ones.

"The job reductions represent less than 2% of the work force"
In real terms this means those on temp contracts mostly will leave.
It's a lot less than could have happened.
And is really only to be expected from those that bolstered their staff during the credit boom & now we are heading for a credit melt down more staff need to be off loaded!

Doesn't matter if it's 2% or 92% if you're one of them.

It'll be office jobs and very little on the shop floor. Maybe a couple of upper management roles at store level... they won't cut staff where it will have an effect on the 'customer experience'.

As for temps they were recruited around sept/oct last year and told when their contracts would end.... the 17th of January. So if this 1,000 losses is true it WILL NOT include them.
