Well Microsoft has announced a new limited version of Windows XP (to make computers cheaper in poor parts of the world) 'Windows XP Starter Edition' offers basic functions - web - media player etc,. Only three programs will be able to run at same time (Big increase on normal XP then ;) )and screen resolution stuck at 800x600 ;)

I think i read the same article sethaniel, is it more to do with stopping piracy?

or getting Microsoft into more homes -even though there is stil a court case on going against Microsoft and its Windows and Media Player -it is putting media player in this cut down version.

hi seth,im sure MS will invent a windowsXP for portable DVD players ;).although you saying that hp ipaq 4150 does meet windows XP min requirements!(if you had a 1GB SD card),our school workstations have 133mhz,32mb,no harddisk,so a hp ipaq could run XP better than our school workstations, who knows maybe a portable DVD player?.|:)

Has the key - this is aimed at reducing piracy.

hi,FE,why are MS so concerned with piracy they sell £80 for HE,which i think is expensive becouse you can download linux for free, microsoft must really hate microsoft,if linux is really that bad, then why do microsoft compare there software to theres, perhaps people go linux becouse they don't like paying lots of money, this could also be a reason?.cheers.ben
