Must give the numbercrunchers a nice warm feeling thinking up ways to diddle our Senior Citizens, if this cunning plan is adopted.

To my way of thinking, choosing the inflation figure from that of a particular month, is batty.

What period to take an average from would need to be debated but, to my mind makes more sense.

Can't help thinking that whatever system is used it will be ammended if they don't like the figures. As they say 5.2% of Naff All is still Naff All.

Since the inflation index is measured over a year, it is irrelevant how it has behaved in the intervening months and adjustments to benefits must be based on the measure at the same time each year.

However, there is a new way in which to reduce the benefits bill without fiddling with inflation statistics enter link description here

Very droll. Think the NHS must use that as a training aid for patient care.

It's not new.
