Being a Celt I'm prone to the odd bit of emotion myself, but if I have to watch many more news programmes featuring tearful athletes I may well top myself!
Get a life! These people have excelled at their sport due to personal drive and ambition. They deserve their moment of emotion!
I'm not denying them their moment of emotion, I just don't wish to share it courtesy of the national news broadcasts. It seems to be a particularly modern thing, I don't recall seeing the likes of Brasher, Bannister or Seb Coe so emotional, or even John Glenn or Hillary. It also seems to be more of a British thing. Doesn't seem to affect so many athletes of other nations/cultures.
and don't give anything away... an attitude best left in the nineteenth century.
