has the forum changed to the system of, it will only send a mail notification if we have logged in and visited the forum? or is it supposed to send one each time someone replied to a thread we have started?

The latter I think. Is your details page up to date?

yup; my details are up to date, even to the extent of changing the address to one I know IS "working" and accessible !!

A couple of people over on web design have been late seeing replies because they didn't get any e-mail notification.

Has the tick box changed? Maybe before the default was to send e-mails and now it isn't.

p;3 - did you notice whether the 'e-mail notification' tick box was ticked or not when you started this thread?

in the system that's causing this, and next week we'll look at it in detail.

Well spotted re check box.

That's a good word. Has the OED cleared it? :o)

  Forum Editor 15:07 28 Jan 2006

the box is ticked.

I very much doubt it. I'm sure that Penny can arrange for it to be added for me.

just manually checked back here ;I dont think I have had any of these notifications; has the glitch been ironed out F.E.? my mail address IS a valid one too:)

As it happens I was chatting to one of the 'Balderdash & Pifle' OED folk just last Sunday... and one of the many lexicographical topics we covered was the english use of the suffix "ette" to denote "small".
