I've replaced the "wood" jaws just twice... both times with ply, rather than chip.
It's been very extensively used, and a couple of the plastic components are broken/missing... but it still gets used regularly...
I originally bought it to use as a bench for an engine repair... 1963 Hillman Minx 1600, but it's had other engines, gearboxes and various plumbing, electrical and woodworking projects amongst its uses.
And it's also served as a picnic table!
Maybe not the best diy tool ever... but certainly the best value one!
