Index Linking?

Hi, there is a stretch of ground (Parish Council owned) at the back of my house and four other houses all properties are free hold the strip is divided into five gardens.

Its 202 square yards over all. The new renting charges are £180.80 for the gardens which means each garden pays 90p a square yard.

The council are dithering about how to keep up a fair payment at the end of a three year period before we sign the final agreement.

It’s been mentioned by the PC too index link the gardens, not too sure if this is a good or bad thing.

I can’t work out what it would have been over the past three years. Is anyone up on index linking?

Depends what index you would be linking it to.

CPI & RPI where in the region of 5% for last year.

I would go with the Index Linking, with a Periodic Review.

Say once every 33 years, which would fit in with a 99 year lease on the gardens.
