The towns of Margate, Clintonville, Leamington and Eastbourne are displayed above the ground floor windows of this rather large emporium so I suspect this is somewhere in Southern England. The park/garden looks almost tropical with palms? and yucca? growing.

  Wilham 21:40 30 Nov 2007

My guess is Bournmouth. Long time since there.

  anskyber 21:41 30 Nov 2007

Bournemouth is my guess.

  anskyber 21:43 30 Nov 2007

PS the Valley Gardens there.

The only Clintonvilles I know are in the states and a golf course in Northern Ireland.

The photo reminds me of Hastings.

Duh - Cliftonville !!!

Like Wilham and anskyber, I too think it could be Bournemouth ...alB

I believe the building is now Debenhams in The Square, Bournemouth click here

Looks like there are links with present day Debenhams stores click here

Under the heading of "Bobbys take ann interest" are all the towns that it could be,although I haven,t checked further.

Looks like this one will be cracked very quickly!

After fielding two hard ones I thought it only fair to slip one in which promised to be easily identifiable ;o)

Looks like I shall have to brave the dusty pile again and find another - watch this space!

Well done to all of you who immediately spotted it.
