Identification Longshot/Talking Point 602

Good Evening All. As Fran has accumulated a couple more ‘GENUINE UNIDENTIFIED POSTCARDS’ I shall start the ball rolling with this one example. click here

To all you fresh faces, this is a GENUINE UNIDENTIFIED POSTCARD unposted with a bog standard European back, so even I don’t know the solution.

It looks like European troops examining, what to me looks like, part of a wrecked aircraft - I've no idea what nationality or which war.

I get it...a simple one to start with to lull us into a false sense of security. I'm not too sure about a wrecked aircraft although I can see why you might think it. Can I start the ball rolling by suggesting Turkish troops from WW1 possibly in Arabia.

  STREETWORK 21:28 27 Jan 2012

I think it's a gun carraige and they could be Italian troopers...

  Brumas 21:29 27 Jan 2012

Condom but of course ;o}

  Brumas 21:33 27 Jan 2012

Could that dark hooded figure kneeling be a priest giving comfort to a person trapped in the wreckage of the gun carriage/aircraft/whatever?

  STREETWORK 21:37 27 Jan 2012

WW1 and 2 French and italian troop sported helments with a ridge down the middle.

The background suggest woodland, so maybe not a desert theme.

Could it be a dead or dying horse...

  Brumas 21:44 27 Jan 2012

As I think this one is a little specialised I shall put on an ordinary one for those folk who are not necessarily into things military.

  Brumas 23:14 27 Jan 2012

I'll bump this up for the Night Shift cos' I'm turning in soon.

"WW1 and 2 French and italian troop sported helments with a ridge down the middle"

Only in action, and these troops clearly are not, they are in normal undress uniforms.

They have the look of Carabinieri or maybe mountain troops to me.

Morning Brumas and Co. I think they look like Italian troops, so possibly in Abyssinia. Anyone remember the song?

"Will you come to Abyssinia, will you come,

Bring your own ammunition and a gun,

Mussolini will be there, shooting bullets in the air,

Will you come to Abyssinia, will you come?"

That's all I can remember, no googling please.

Three of the soldiers 'appear' to have pointy things attached to their left belts....swords or bayonets?
