Identification Longshot and Talking Point

Good Evening All

There will be no IL/TP next week,Friday 23rd, because Fran and I are undertaking a mammoth trip around England, to see and stay with with friends and family we haven’t seen for yonks.

Monday: Belford to Peterborough.

Tuesday: Peterborough to waltham Abbey.

Wednesday: Waltham Abbey to Bodmin.(2 nights)

Friday: Bodmin to Preston to rest and stay two days with the kids!

We shall be avoiding motorways and taking our time, stopping as and when the mood takes us. I am trying to plan a route from Bodmin (Nanstallon actually) to Preston and finding one that avoids large built up areas and motorways is proving a challenge. I don’t have a satnav as I prefer maps.

Any daytime cup of tea stops along the way would be a bonus ;o}

But, you had a day off last year just after the day that shall not be mentioned in December!

Expecting a day off, when you only work one evening a week, is really too much!

Bodmin to Preston avoiding motorways and large built up areas is quite difficult. The A30 from Bodmin to Exeter is now dual carriageway, almost motorway standard, and quite busy. Getting around Birmingham can pose a puzzle.

You could go - Bodmin, Launeston, Tavistock, Princetown, over Dartmoor Mortonhampstead. Two Bridges Hotel near Princetown does some nice meals. Exeter can be a traffic nightmare. So you may have to use A30, M5 to J27 and then the old A38 to Taunton and on to Bristol. But both Taunton and Bristol have traffic problems. The M5 around Bristol is always busy. You may want to go Avonmouth then Aust, over the Severn and then Chepstow, Hereford, Shrewsbury and north.

Fruit Bat /\0/\ & Woolwell I thanks shall continue to fine tune a route taking your recommendations into consideration.

It wasn't so much as getting stuck as just not knowing the lie of the land so to speak.

  Brumas 17:32 16 May 2014

should read : thanks I shall........etc. It was the nightmare of circumnavigating Birmingham that gave me the jitters!

  Woolwell 18:15 16 May 2014

I will now miss 2 Friday's as I will not be able to do the one on the 23rd.

Have a good journey.

It's ME, ME, ME, all the time with you. you were away last year.

At Gloucester, take the A40 to Ross on Wye then the A49 up to Warrington, then to St Helens, Ormskirk and the A59 to Preston.

Have fun

Hi, Fran
