Jock1e I shall have to give this to you as the first one is Spittal Sands and the second is A Peep at Spittal Beach from Berwick upon Tweed. Well Done

If I hadn't slept in this morning I'd have beaten Jock1e because I've been through or over that arch many times.

The most remarkable thing about those pictures is the number of people on Spittal beach considering it is a very dangerous place to go swimming.

In 1966, three boys from Leitholm, about 15 miles west of Berwick, drowned during a church outing to the beach. The Tweed comes out and makes a ninety degree turn to sweep along the water just off the beach.

fourm member, I agree, in fact that whole stretch of coast is dangerous, what with shifting/quick sands, tidal races and unforgiving rocks!
