My partner reads a great deal, fortunately we live just 100yds from the public library, and reads a great variety of fiction but often bemoans the quality of the writing once past the first few pages. Are the publishers/authors worried that we will see how poor some books are BEFORE buying them?

Actually I think this new Google project is a great idea.
