Gambling Mecca

I'm hoping that the "Dome" gets the verdict for the proposed casino. I love Blackpool and I'm a northerner, but I think we have enough gambling facilities in the north as it is.. I've heard all the arguments for and against, I don't gamble myself other than the odd five bob on the Grand National. "Five Bob" (HaHa) that just shows how often I gamble. Just don't feel it should be here up north taking away our hard earned dosh. ..Bingalau..

If it ends up there, this will make it even more 'grim up north'.

Ban it from everywhere. And all gambling pimping advertising.

The idea of large scale gambling and all its' attendant problems, coming to the UK fills me with despair but I had to visit Blackpool recently and there was never a more run down, depressing, souless town in history. A casino can only make it better and the attendant problems can only be beneficial.

Gandalf. If Blackpool get the decision I hope you are right about it being beneficial. Mind you we have a gang from our RNA Club who go there every year for a boozy weekend and we all love it. Bracing walks along the beach etc. But it is looking a bit shabby. Not a bit like pre-war days when millions of holiday makers used it, of course now they all go on cheap trips to places like Majorca etc. Those places depress me too, with young children being wheeled about in prams at 02.00 hrs. Just because their parents want to go clubbing at that hour. ..Bingalau..

I have to agree with GANDALF <|:-)>. I went to Blackpool a year ago. I'd never been and the wife's head was full of past holiday memories.

Sadly when we got there it was a shell of a place. Run down and throughly depressing. it needs the cash injection. London doesn't.

Well it looks like it is Manchester instead, from what I have seen just now.. ..Bingalau..

Manchester it is, looks on the cards for the complex to be built at 'Sports City' in Eastlands just by Manchester City's Stadium.

It's Manchester for those who're even vaguely interested.

Yawn. click here

Seems to have the feeling something like when Richard Branson tried to get the National Lottery. ..Bingalau..
