What about landing?

Here is a link to a youtube video that made my hair stand on end.

That KLM Pilot must have industrial strength underpants.

ps: You may want to turn your speaker down a tad.

I have a pathological fear of flying.

I've tried so many times and thought I had beaten my fears on a few occasions......but no.

Sorry to hear that. Can you imagine being a Pilot in those conditions ? lol

Thanks. That is no help at all as i fly out to the Caribbean in four weeks. I'm really looking forward to the landing now..and if I hear that music over the speakers - I'm jumping! Great track though.

talking about this once. He said nobody has a fear of flying - it's a fear of crashing.

It's said that any landing you walk away from is a good one...

Mind you, some of those 'arrivals' were more like (almost) controlled crashes!

It says a lot for the strength of the airframes/landing gear of modern aircraft that they can put up with such abuse. The skill of the aircrew is also to be commended, although one or two of those clips suggest that an earlier 'go-around' might have been more appropriate...

Thanks to Kev.Ifty for the link.

"one or two of those clips suggest that an earlier 'go-around' might have been more appropriate..."

Most if not all of the landings in the clip were in cross-wind conditions. They may well have already 'gone-around' prior to the event shown. As forum member points out many of those shown were of Boeing exploring the cross-wind envelope of their aircraft i.e. they deliberatly put the aircraft into the large cross-wind component for testing purposes. That's what being a Test Pilot is all about.

Great videos, proves that landing is just a controlled crash!

Just remembered seeing these pics of a 737 after a very heavy landing click here
Wouldn't like to have been on her!

`It's said that any landing you walk away from is a good one...`

And if the aircraft can be used the next day it`s a bonus!!!!

Flying isn`t dangerous (most of the time) but crashing is!!!!!

I have never flown in an aeroplane in my life. I always thought

I would like to some day, but after seeing this clip I am starting

to wonder. I am 60 years old, and never flown, is this sad?
