I'll tell you why, Google have a nice iGoogle page, this can be customised to show pretty much anything you want.

On my page I have my Gmail account, Headlines from BBC, The Guardian, PCA & The Register, a selection of funny stories from Reuters, the weather for my area & a brain training game.

I should imagine you can do pretty much the same with Yahoo, it's just I have a gmail account rather than a Yahoo account.

Other pages in my favourites: BBC News site, Channel 4 cars, BBC Manchester Jam Cams, Buzzword online word processor, Google Maps, and Network Video storage calculator for work.

Can't say I have any favourite websites. I have the BBC as home page just as a convenience. Everything else is called up from Bookmarks or a Google search as and when necessary. Perhaps it's because I consider a computer just as a functional tool.

On the other hand, though, there are a number of sites which are decidedly non-favourite!
