Fall in drink drive convictions...

click here This year in our area we had the most prominent anti-drink drive campaign I've ever known.

Police condoning off lanes and doing a sobriety check on all pulled in. A very visual presence on the roads especially after midnight. All vehicle types used in patrolling for drink drivers, urban pandas, traffic cars, unmarked cars, even tranny vans.

This frightened a lot of potential drink drivers and even sober drivers into not driving.

Do you think this proves conclusively that a police presence is by far the most effective deterrent to any lawbreaking?

I suppose it is a case of prevention is better than a cure. I don`t know if a police presence really is the most effective deterrent against people breaking the law but it must surely play a very important part in it.
