Is this a fair assessment of Labours term in office or just Tory rhetoric.

It just about sums up the Labour government in my eyes.

High unemployment.
And perhaps after the next election Gordon will get to be unemployed to!!!!

Brown unemployed? Yes but they will return sometime...... they always do, people never learn and that's the bit I can't understand.

We have to remember that the economic collapse wasn't confined to the UK.

We are where we are. Looking forward, who has the right policies to rebuild our economy. If we put the brakes on government spending too sharply, will it help or hinder the recovery.

An assessment of Labours' term in office.

I do not think words of a sufficiently base nature exist for me to describe my feelings on this.

"Is this a fair assessment of Labours term in office or just Tory rhetoric"

It's a Tory biased assessment of Labours term in office. That isn't to say it's not a fair assessment!

Ye are grown intolerably odious to the whole nation;
you were deputed here by the people to get grievances redress'd,
are yourselves gone!
So! Take away that shining bauble there,
and lock up the doors.
In the name of God, go!

Just about the only sensible thing Cromwell ever said.

This is a Scottish (!) paper's story about the latest opinion poll (although this was also the situation in another poll back in May):

Tax, tax, tax and spend, spend, spend and not forgetting all the lies.

Any Socialist government is the same; don't forget too that Harold Wilson adopted a pipe and slippers image to present himself as a down to earth man of the people.

In fact in private he smoked cigars...:-)

Tony Blair was another who cultivated a particular image (one claiming to be a pretty straight forward sort of guy) although the practice of gentle deception is not, of course, confined just to Labour politicians.
