Just a little bit of guff!

Any body got pet names for those indespensable time saving devices?

My washing machine is "The Lean Mean Sock Eating Machine"

Can't live without it!

Toaster = Bread burner

Kettle = Life saver (need a good cup of tea after shopping with the other half)

I still refer to knifes, forks and spoons as 'spanners' as in 'yaffling spanners' - a term used by the Royal Marines which first came to the public's attention during the Falklands War in 1982.

My other half calls the dish-washer Lisa.

Me! :(

Not so much a domestic appliance but I was brought up with the knowledge that a hammer is a "Birmingham screwdriver"

Must be a local thing, it's called a Manchester screwdriver around here!

as to name my appliances, but in Gaudy Night the school staff call the hoover 'the abhorrence', because nature abhors a vacuum.
