Here I am, as usual, browsing a web site that I browse almost every day. I hit a link and up pops dnsassist, brought to me by Verizon. The page says that the page I want does not exist and recommends several others. I have been clicking this link for years, and it does exist. Verizon informs me that dnsassist will now "make my web surfing experience more productive." It also says that no software was installed on my pc. If I want to opt out of dnsassist, I have to change the configuration of my router. Apparently they were able, without permission to modify the configuration my password protected router, and I have change it back if I don't like it...which I don't. I now have a new ISP, and I recommend anyone who does not want another Big Brother running his pc to do the same before Verizon chooses to make your surfing experience more productive.
