No. Certainly not on the sort of day it was here in Cumbria, the rocks would have been damp and characteristically very slippery indeed.
Notwithstanding the questionable wisdom of the decision we should remember that there has been a death and respect the situation.
Julia Bradbury and here excellent Wainwright series which included Blencathra (Saddleback to many here) did offer words of caution about this route. Perhaps there is room for stronger advice given what seems to have been an increase in fatalities on the majoy climbs in the fells and the obvious lack of preparation by some.
