Cold weather affects digital TV

  Woolwell 17:34 01 Dec 2009

Apparently the software in the transmitters couldn't cope with the cold on Monday at Caradon Hill click here

I suspect that this was a hardware fault not software.

Well im a mobile phone repairman, and as i say to customers, "its either software or hardware, one of the two" rather sarcastically.

"There was a problem with the software because of the abnormally cold weather and it had to be manually re-set."
What are they going to do when winter comes? - Electric blankets all round?

PP321 and you would be reported by me to your superiors pronto.

The last time I was shown round a TV broadcast site, it was a Dell desktop PC sat on an old coffee table that was doing the business.

As a field service technician, my test equipment that was held in the car overnight was often too cold to function correctly at the first job during winter months.

This is supposed to be new equipment for digital broadcasting. What will happen in Scotland?

All stations will be issued with Tartan Blankets of course and lashings porrage.

This morning at breakfast and during the morning all was well.
Came home this evening- Nothing - No signal
Stationed not found and not tunes said the Program Guide.
Did a re tune - no station found came the message
re tune analogue and as the scan went through so odd stations popped up ans went away- but the end result- no stations found

Whats happened there I wonder - rattled all the feed connectors - even remade one- but nothing
So it looks like a total overhaul of the aerial system- but I wonder why?
Good job I have a fair pile of library books I guess.

Has the wind moved your Aerial out of line with the transmitter?

  Quiller. 20:09 01 Dec 2009

click here when the signal is poor, which is quite regular.

Will we get a letter about illegal downloads?
