My mate had one of these and only got rid of it because he managed to get a company car.

He bought it brand new and got a good price for it when he sold it on.

Don't forget how much of a joke the Skoda brand was, and look at it now. Being competitive pricewise is going to be the major problem I should think. I doubt that quality would be a problem nowadays as there have been so many advances in production techniques since they were first built.

Russian and French - doesn't sound good on the reliability stakes does it?

Skoda had the good fortune to be bought by Volkswagen who introduced them to their own standards of design and build quality. I think Renault will struggle to turn Lada around in the same way.

No mention of Renault selling the Lada is France, I note.

i thought the Russians themselves got rid of lada and euroflock

...go the whole hog and start selling Trabant cars here? You can almost give them away free in packets of cornflakes!

A lot more likely than British Leyland making a comeback!

and RED ROBBO in charge?

  Jim Thing 20:54 10 May 2010

My dodgy memory is telling me that one UK car manufacturer started an ad campaign with the theme "Built by robots, not by Robboes" but the Advertising Standards Authority made them drop it.

Anyone remember which company it was?
