Is anyone using IRIS?

"The UK Immigration Service have a new programme called IRIS which, once registered, allows you to proceed straight to the unmanned Immigration barriers as opposed to queuing to see an official".

Apparently this system has been used for staff for a long time - more often out of order than working but I suppose that was trialling the hardware.

The system is all very well speeding you through immigration but it does nothing with waiting at baggage collection or with Customs Inspection except to allow you to get into those queues quicker.

All in all a bit of a waste of time as far as the passenger is concerned.
