Advice regarding unusual chair

  Blackhat 12:46 25 Jun 2011

My recently departed brother used to be a skilled cabinet/furniture maker specialising in bespoke furniture for disabled children, however, many years ago he was commissioned to make a special chair (not for a disabled person). Shortly after delivery the client passed away and my brother inherited the chair back. I have now inherited the item and firstly I am not offering it for sale here. What I am looking for are any contacts who might know of any collectors for this kind of item.

The item is a full size replica of an American executioner’s electric chair (unwired).

I have spent much time on Google and spoken to some cabinet makers but not much advice in return, I might be looking for American collectors of unusual furniture or execution memorabilia enthusiasts.

Fetters would be good place to ask for advice on selling it.

Or a top auctioneer? Try googling specialist American auctioneers.

Blackhat, Whilst I cannot offer any practical advice I would love to see a picture of it?

Madame Tussauds might have a use for it.

Brumas, currently housed in my brothers bathroom, minus the execusion paraphenalia.

Just to add, the clients death was not related to the chair.

wiz-king The Fetters site looks interesting (not for personal use) they may be able to put me in touch with specialist collectors; I will contact them next week, thanks. I won’t ask why you have this link!
