6th September 2004 - good news regarding ADSL?

Does anyone agree with me that it is VERY welcome news that BT are to get rid of ALL distance limitations regarding the standard 512 kbps service?
Instead they will test out each line on an INDIVIDUAL basis to see if the ADSL connection is STABLE.

If the line DOES prove to be unstable they will even send out a BT engineer to fit a face plate FREE of charge!
Only if this FAILS then you are a very unlucky person!
As BT are also attempting to extend the 1 mbps service from 4km to 6km I am hoping to upgrade to the this faster service on the 6/9/2004 but I expect the BT Wholesale server will be VERY busy on this day with the rush with people wishing to upgrade to broadband!
Roll on 6th September!

Have you a link to this story, I have been following the Milton Keynes extended reach trial with interest. My cable length is only 5.1km but failed on noise levels, I know what I'll be doing on 6/9/2004.
