Various ancient scribblings by Aztecs and Nostradamus others have been interpreted as indicating the year to worry about is 2012, for a cosmic calamity of some sort.
So it must be true.
Mustn't it? ;-}

to be chaotic."

'It' in this context is a major solar storm, but nobody is certain it will happen, and if it does nobody is certain about what the consequences will be.

One thing is for sure - we can do absolutely nothing to prevent it, and if it occurs there's very little we will do to mitigate the effects. Governments will be too busy concentrating on more mundane matters like reviving economies, to contemplate spending public money on contingency measures, and power companies will not be forking out billions to safeguard the national grid against the effects of something that may not happen.

I shall lose no sleep worrying about it.

Why worry we are all supposed to die on 21st Dec 2012 so all the solar flares will do is incinerate the grisly bodies leaving the world clean.

  johndrew 10:10 03 Aug 2010

But if we don`t but have a pacemaker ........??

  sunnystaines 12:55 03 Aug 2010

also put your eyes north on 4th aug the flares should cause the northern lights to be seen a lot further south in GB. knowing my luck it will be cloudy.
