Zone Alarm - access identifications

  Trikie 21:56 13 Apr 2005

Having installed the free version of Zone Alarm when I start up it queries programmes that want to connect to the intertnet. Most I recognise, but not scrtkfg.exe or Loader X Module.

What are these and should I allow the connection?

Hi, anything you do not recognise you can disallow.
If it is something which really is needed it will re-appear at a later time/date when you are using a program that needs it. Do not worry about disallowing anything important. You will I am sure be able to recognise anything that you have on your own pc.

ps - when you allow anything that you do know, don't forget to tick the box saying 'remember this setting' or words to that effect.

Me again - I have done a quick check, I do not want to alarm you, but it is possible that scrtkfg.exe may be a nasty - I would advise you to do a full check with your Anti-virus and Ad-Aware programs as soon as possible.

Ad-Aware at click here (free)

AVG at click here (free)

just in case you have not already got those two.

Thanks Technotiger - I'll run Avast and Spybot S&D
